Our Services
Individual Counselling
Individual counselling is a process through which clients work one-on-one with one of our counsellors in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. When we talk and reflect about our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviour with the therapist it can help us to better understand the past and the present and gain a different perspective on our life and how to thrive relationships. All sessions can be conducted either in-person or online.
Most common areas covered: Anxiety, Burnout, Change and Life Transitions, Depression, Fertility, Grief & Loss, Loneliness, Marital issues, Pregnancy, PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), Self-esteem, Sleep disorder, Stress Management, Trauma.
Couple Counselling
The most common reasons couples seek the help of a counsellor is because they feel they are growing apart from their partner or are experiencing disagreements in the relationship. Many things can cause these challenges, including finances, unexpected changes in life, having children, or being very busy with other things, including work. In fact, some people start to feel this way even without any obvious relationship changes because the people within the relationship are changing and growing. This is a natural and healthy part of long-term relationships, but it can also seem scary. Instead of feeling scary, it should feel exciting, and a marriage counsellor can help you and your partner to navigate this space and the emotions that can come with it.
Fertility, IVF & Donor Counselling
The quality care and support we provide our clients at every stage of their journey to parenthood is all thanks to the dedication, close collaboration with medical experts and expertise of our team. From pre-conception, during early pregnancy, with birth preparation from the 20th pregnancy week onwards and post-natal support.
Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or via fertility treatment, whether you are planning to conceive in the nearby future or have been trying for some time, whether you have an explained fertility issue or an unexplained fertility issue, whether you are dealing with primary or secondary infertility – we offer time, knowledge, a range of creative self-help tools and beyond for your fertility journey.
Our counselling service is unique and includes support for all IVF clients as well as specialist counselling for our donor programs and genetic testing. Our team members have attended the medical procedures of IVF and visited the laboratory to witness fertilization through the microscope. Clients are offered specialised coaching and counselling sessions prior to commencing hormone stimulation, before egg retrieval and embryo transfer and during the two weeks’ waiting time.
We find this places couples in the best possible emotional state for their treatment. Research shows that emotional and mental stability can have a positive impact on the procedure. The team has been conducting their own research which has been presented at international conferences in Asia and Europe.
Pregnancy & Birth Counselling
Pregnancy should be an experience of ultimate joy and peacefulness. The pure joy of visualising the baby’s arrival and transitioning into parenthood is often one of the unforgettable moments in a loving relationship. But what happens, if it’s not? If the pregnancy is not as smooth and instead, a fearful journey with lots of anxious moments? Research shows that most childhood trauma would surface with the transition into parenthood. Also, experience of previous miscarriage/s or loss can strongly impact the well-being of the expecting mother during the first trimester. The specialist support and approach has shown that parents can feel calmer, enjoy their pregnancy more and be better prepared for a gentle and calm birthing experience.
Kids / Adolescents Counselling
Children and adolescents feel at best when their environment accepts them as who they are and they can enjoy age appropriate free play and develop their skills and talents at their own pace. Our society, however, is putting high expectations first and very often, children are ‘labelled’. Sentences and statements can form beliefs and those beliefs can lead to behavioural change. Anxiety and panic attacks, bedwetting, school problems, rebelliousness, aggressive behaviour, sleeping problems and many more, can be consequences surfacing. In our work, we help our young clients to discover solutions to their challenges and work closely with parents to support the well-being of their child and adolescent.
Grief & Loss Counselling
Grief is a natural response to loss. It is the emotional suffering one feels when something or someone the individual loves is taken away. The grief associated with death is familiar to most people, but individuals grieve in connection with a variety of losses throughout their lives, such as unemployment, ill health, the change or end of a relationship. Loss can be categorized as either physical (e.g. a person) or abstract (e.g. interactions).
Learning about the stages of grief and getting the professional support can help with the healing process.
Sleep Coaching
Such an important topic for healthy brain development in adults and children. Dr Sharon Lim, Neurologist and mother, has given numerous talks and webinars on how to increase brain health. In her sessions, she would want to find out more about your sleep, habits, rituals but also your life and stress levels in general as well as your diet. For children with sleep problems, it’s a must for her to see the parents to discuss current status and possible adaptations.
Hypnotherapy & Hypnokids
Children and young adults have the ability to be in a so-called ‘hypnotic’ state throughout the day. It can happen while watching the clouds moving, while ‘listening’ to teachers or parents but drifting into an imaginary world with their thoughts. As adults, we might experience such a ‘hypnotic’ state when driving from A to B and not knowing how we got there! Through the altered stage of consciousness during hypnosis, the subconscious mind is more open to suggestions and makes it very easy to resolve problems. Challenges such as anxieties, childhood trauma, school problems, sleep disorder etc. can be addressed with positive results in a few sessions.
Virtual Reality in Counselling
Recent research shows that the use of virtual reality can help to significantly reduce stress and anxiety. Clients can emerge in places of calmness and peacefulness during counselling and experience how to work through their emotional and mental challenges in a safe environment. We are currently designing a program to be used in counselling and are thrilled to offer this brand new services to clients in the second half of 2021.
