I discovered my love of coaching over two decades working in careers where I was expected to coach all those around me as ‘part of the job’. The impact of coaching on individuals was so rewarding and motivating for me – seeing people lift their heads up, find a way through to improve themselves or solve problems, all while having faith in, and compassion for, themselves. I took this experience and trained to become a therapeutic counsellor full time, so that I might be able to help not with just performance, but also with doubts, stresses, anxieties and overwhelmed emotional states, which we all have from time to time, and which make us the wonderful rich human beings that we are - but which hold us back from what we want to be.

My wish is for clients to find autonomy, empowerment, independence, direction and balance in their lives and relationships. There is a special little intimate place between counsellor and client: a space between two people where non-judgment, mutual trust, belief and encouragement is found.  It is the space from which a person can be safe and start to rise above the trees to see the whole wood.  A wood can be a reassuring place to hide forever, but life goes on outside. From this special place, a new confidence in one’s strengths, courage, new goals, new visions and patience can start to form. Then a plan of ‘little steps’ can be made towards a new direction.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on various modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Grief and Loss (Transitions) work. I rely both on my own experience and the knowledge of my network to stay relevant and up-to-date in the fields of medicine, psychology and nutrition.
